The Twitter Revolution

Editor Dean Mears takes a look at an interesting Twitter revolution, and ponders the question 'Will Steve Kean become the first football manager sacked thanks to Twitter?'

We've seen the power of Twitter a lot in recent times, the Egyptian's removed Mubarak from power thanks to an uprising coordinated by Twitter. Yeovil Town signed a new player because of recomendations via the social networking site. And now, Steve Kean could become the first football manager sacked via fan power on Twitter.

Glen Mullan, editor of the excellent Rovers Revisited, recently penned an equally excellent blog post called 'Enough is enough', which launches a scathing attack on Venky's and Kean claiming the pair have 'ripped the heart out' of his beloved Blackburn. Even if your not a Rovers fan you will be able to relate to this blog post, and you will understand the love for this football club and the anger at the way it's being run.

Kean walked over everybody to get his big chance
This blog was written before Blackburn's 1-1 draw with Fulham on Sunday, a result which has proven to become the straw that broke the camel's back. Since the draw, Glen's twitter campaign to get Kean out took off like a rocket and I caught up with him to see how he was getting on.

You've been asking fans to email you so you can organise a proper demonstration against Kean. What's the response been like so far?
The response has been amazing and has captured Rovers fans worldwide, The march is scheduled for saturday at 11.30 in Blackburn before the Arsenal game, Early indications suggest a very large number of Marchers which will be carried out peacefully as we are proud of our town and want to represent it thte right way

Will you stop at Kean, or are Venky's a target of supporter unrest?
Kean is the target, Venkys have shown to be naive and the jury is still out on them, but a few correct decisions can soon turn the clubs fortunes around

Venky's are safe, for now.
How important have social networking sites like Twitter been in this movement?
Twitter, Facebook, and rovers supporters sites have been instrumental, a special mention too for Henry Winter and SportsTonight TV and Mike Parry who broke the new exclusivly to the press live on Monday nights show.
Who would be your ideal man to replace Kean?
An experienced Manager who wants a challenge and is not affraid to speak
his mind, WE need a manager who can inspire those around him, and can get others to follow his lead.
