Two In The Bush

Nathan Kosky delves into the good news coming out of QPR.
It's been a fascinating and landmark 6 months in Shepherds Bush as QPR have gone from bizarre boutique Championship team, to seemingly premiership no-hopers; but this week's takeover by Fernandes and Mittal gives Rangers fans long-awaited hope of a bright future.

It wasn't too long ago that Loftus Road seemed beset with problems. The 'managerial merry-go-round' was vertigo-inducing as a raft of bosses came and went. Flurries of transfer activity failed to ignite the team, fans were disenfranchised with high ticket prices; all with the bizarre sight of Ecclestone and Brigatore flouncing in the boardroom amongst the backdrop of W12's council estate in mid-winter.

Briatore and Ecclestone brought nothing but instability to QPR
Just when they seemed to have it right last season, and the irrepressible Neil Warnock worked his magic, some shady transfer dealings almost threatened to ruin it all at the wrong moment. The NHS heart welfare team must have been out in full force around West London.

But all is well that ends well - despite a quiet summer on the transfer front and the 4-0 home drubbing by Bolton, QPR finally seem to have reached the some sort of promised land. Tony Fernandes and the Mittal family seem to have the money to make QPR's stay in the top flight a more permanent one.

New owner Fernandes signaled his intentions by sanctioning a £4 million bid for Scott Parker
They also have the business sense to run the club more sensibly than in recent times, hopefully avoiding the chaotic Rangers roller-coaster under Brigatore. Their appointment of top exec Philip Beard as CEO shows they are making all the right moves early on and talk of transfer dealings seem ambitious yet measured.

QPR finally has all eyes on it for the right reasons.
